What should my engine sound like (98 Civic HX stick)?

Q: Youtube link below. I don't know anything about cars so I simply inspected the interior and exterior and test drove the car for about 10-15 minutes. Every gear works well, 1-5 & reverse. It doesn't feel rough when idling but I noticed the revs were almost at 1.5 in neutral. White smoke was coming out the exhaust but I only noticed it during the smog test. I took outside at night time and there was no visible smoke. The car has always started within a second so I'm not sure why it took so long this one time. Even when its cold, it starts fast. I just bought it so I am paranoid lol.

A: the engine sounds a little rough. i couldnt see the odometer but sure it has a lot of miles. honda motors will run for a very long time if maintained properly. my 94 has almost 300k. if you like the original motor and the power do a swap with another motor form the same year range (96-00); if you want a little more power and better throttle response you can do a b16 swap from a 99-00 si model or another b series motor. make sure the motor is obd2 and you get the computer (ecm) with the motor. there anre really plenty of options for you and fairly easy with plenty of online support and honda enthusiasts within all areas. have any more question add some comments and ill check back.
