How to be less sensitive (emotionally)?

Q: Recently i got jumped at school for pointing a knife at some mexican that i fought and i was the only one that was suspended(i didnt get caught w/ the knife). i always think negatively and i think im a horrible person, i always would do things i couldn't control. im also poor because my sister needed $50,000 chemotherapies but she's cured now but i never stop teasing her. i started getting depressed and everything was boring and felt like shlt. i told my parents about getting jumped. my dad told me alot more stuff happened to him, he said he went to the most horrible and ghetto school ever that had gangs every corner and him and his friends got shot at almost every day and that he was hunted down by samoans, and my mom and him were the only 40 people who graduated, and his mom and dad wouldn't really care. i saw oldschool pictures of the school in 1994 and it made my school look like a white retirement estate. i felt so pvssy and im just sad over little things, how can i change this?

A: Happiness, like everything in our world is relative. By telling you about his harsh teenage years, your parents are trying to give you a lower standard to compare your life to because right now it seems you have an idea of a life better than the one you are currently living. Thus, that is why when you make a comparison between your current life and the life you imagine, you become sad/bored. It's like getting a new 1995 Honda for your 18th birthday but realizing the kid next door is driving a brand new Mercedes Benz. It sucks when there's something very good for us to compare to. Having said that, we can't compare our lives to obviously extremely harsh cases (i.e. your parents' lives) because we just end up moping around. Therefore, there's essentially 1 course of action left: to stop making meaningless comparisons of your life to both your dream life and the sob stories of your parents. You need to focus on your life, your skills, your talents, and your interests. Focus on what you enjoy doing but it has to be something that will progress you in society at the same time. Don't know what that is? Take time to find out and make sure you seek help from people who care about you. On that note, try to create some relationships with people so you have lot's of people who care about you. If you really need some time to just escape into your own world, read. Reading is awesome man. There's an author somewhere out there that understands you. Go find his books.

Look at it this way. Do you know the saying, if I buy meat from the supermarket, I feed my stomach but if I hunt my meat, I feed my soul? This saying shows that when we work, fight, claw our way through life, we enjoy our accomplishments just that much more. It might be hard to believe but people born into rich families aren't often happy because their brains never experience improvements in their lives.

Anyway as for the horrible person thing? Psh... you're clearly just a teenager full of hormones and not a "horrible person." True evil is understanding a circumstance fully and acting in the least moral way. You lack the "complete understanding of a circumstance" required to be a bad person (this is shown by your saying "I always would do things I couldn't control"). Don't get me wrong dude, I'm not saying lacking the understanding is a bad thing. Trust me, society would have been a lot more peaceful if some men in history lacked understanding of the world (e.x. Hitler). I'm saying there's no doubt you're succinctly a "good" person. Even your admittance that you think you're a horrible person indicates you're not, ironic huh?

But overall, good luck with your life man.

A: Not enough for a solid diagnosis, but two things make me suspect the Transmission Control Module is bad. One is that it works normally for a few minutes, and the other is that the behavior is so varied. Honda ECUs are very reliable but for some reason the TCUs are not so much. The TCU is located under the passenger's feet - pull back the carpet and you will see the ECU on the left and the TCU on the right of it. Wrecking yards typically sell them for under $100 and it is an easy DIY replacement. I am not a fan of "shotgunning" out parts but unless money was very tight I would replace the TCU.

Many transmission shops will do a free evaluation, but be sure to find a shop you can trust. Way too many chain shops say "you need a new transmission" just because it is the most profitable thing for them, and with it working right at first I very much doubt the transmission itself is bad. Auto Zone can't help you - they have no way of reading anything on your 1993 Honda. There is a two pin plug under the right kick panel that can be jumpered to read transmission codes but Auto Zone won't do that... they won't even know it exists.

Looking to buy a Honda Accord 1999 model, Mileage 189000? Any advice?

Q: Hi All,
I hope like always you will be able to help me in this regard. I have kind of 2 Queries,
1) Well I just had some problems with my current car, Vauxhall Vectra LSi 1999 model, for some reason the gear changing has become real hard when the car is running. While Switched off, gear changing is no problem ... so any help on that would be nice as well ...
2) I just found a Honda Accord 1999 model, looks really nice from the outside and inside, the only issue I see with it is the mileage, its about 189,000. My Question is, does Honda run okay with this mileage or is this a bit too high. The car price is pretty reasonable (and I think it might be coz of the high mileage). So guys, please help me out, being without a car is a pain.

Looking forward to your help and advice,

Regards All and Thanks in advance
(2012-02-29 05:56:03)

A: I've owned a 1999 Honda Accord and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. 189,000 isn't too bad for that car. You should be able to get about 250,000 with little to no issues.

You need to make sure when the timing belt was changed. If it was relatively recently then good. If it was 70K+ Miles ago then you need to get it changed.

If you have no idea of knowing when then get it changed. Then you need to get it changed asap. It's around $400.00 - $500.00 (Depending on if it's a v4 or v6).

Also these cars are known to have transmission issues. See if you can get Maint. records on the fluid changes. Make sure you check the transmission fluid for color or a burnt smell. If it's really dirty/has a burnt smell walk away from it

150 cc scooter or 250 Honda motorcyle?

Q: Im torn..I can buy a 1972 fixed up honda cb or a 150 cc new scooter for around the same price...im thinking the cycle will go faster and be easier to carry my gf with me on...what do you think...looking for something to get around on this summer
(2012-02-29 08:25:29)

A: The Honda if it is in good condition, cool to have a bike that old and those things run forever

Which car should i buy??? This will be my first car...?

Q: I'm living in Westminster, CA 92683 and my budget is 17000. I need a car with good or nice performance, around 200-250hp, nice looking (sporty), fair mileage (above 20 is fine, the more the better) and last for years. It will be used car but no more than 60K miles. I know my requirement isn't add-up with my budget but please help me point out a car with those requirement or close to those. Most of time i will used this car for school and work. I'm think of Acura TSX 2006 but it seem like hard to find one in my area which fit my budget. I'm choosing between Acura, Ford, Honda and Toyota but i will take a look at other better choice. Thank you.
Addition: I'm not looking for a sport car, just kindda nice looking car, like an acura. I do not like car that too common like honda civic or toyota corolla. Thank you.
Forgot to mention: I'm aiming for a Sedan. The HP is from 200 to 230 is good and no more than 250, i dont want to go too much since the gasoline price keep going up these day, i never drive fast enough to buy an Ford Mustang and off course i also dont want my car being a turle since i'm gonna climing up the hill averyday for school which just scared the shit out of me yesterday with my toyota 98. I though the car gonna fell aparts when it make the overpowered sound T_T
(2012-02-26 19:03:43)

A: Acura TL could be a good car. Gets about 21mpg and has a good amount of horsepower, farily luxurious. You could get one like a 05 with 60k for about that much. Check out the Infiniti G35 too, similar to the TL. For Toyota there's the Camry v6? Not that exciting though. I wouldn't go with a Ford. Honda Civic SI 197 hp and you could definitely get one for 17k, gets about 25mpg combined. Mazda Mazdaspeed3 is very very sporty, 250-260 HP. Gets about 22mpg, it's a hatchback though so not sure if you like those but it's an incredible car.

$12,000 for a sports car, what car should I look for?

Q: By the end of the year, I'll have saved up about $10,000-$12,000 for a *new* used car. I really like the Hyundai Tiburon and the Ford Mustang, and have looked into the Mitsubishi Eclipse. What other cars are similar and affordable? 2006-2007 models of these are all in my price range and hopefully a little less by the end of 2012. Thanks for the help.
(2012-02-29 09:26:24)

A: i have the same budget and the same cars im looking at!.. the mustang i took for a test drive and it was fun and the v8 had a great exaust note the suspension was rubbish on the 2007 and 2001 that i tested. Recently ive been looking at the nissan 350Z, and there are too many in our price range that have been wrecked but still plenty around. The 350 sounds amazing fast and fun.. ive also heard amazing things about mazda. And you may laugh at this but even though it doesnt seem likeba sports car the acura tl is lightning fast although it is a sedan.. or you could try your luck with infiti coupes they are nice, about the same as the 350 though. What ever you do stay away from german cars with high milage unless your a mechanic.. i saw a nice porsche for 10,000 and found out it was very unreliable. Good luck, take ur time and dont rush it because you dont want to regret your decision like i did a few years ago! I drive a galant right now lol

Looking to upgrade from Honda shadow vt750c?

Q: Hi guys, As you can probably tell, I'm currently on a Honda shadow vt750c. It has been excellent bike for a daily commuter, with the occasional runs out in the country. However I am now looking to upgrade to a long rang tourer.

I have narrowed my search down to a Honda vtx1800, Triumph thunderbird, Kawasaki nomad or a Victory high country. Currently I am leaning towards the Thunderbired. Can anyone shed some light on what they would go for in the same situation.
Thanks for the suggestion Andy. Unfortunately, being the short a$$ that I am, bmw's are too tall for me. that's why I want a cruser.
Oh, I'm in Australia.
(2012-02-28 04:02:54)

A: If you want to stay with the cruiser style tourer, those are good choices. The Nomad is a bit underpowered in my opinion. If you're willing to expand your search to the sport-tourer area, you should look at the Honda ST1300. It's big, fast, and comfortable, and you can get 300 miles on a tank of gas.

Audi or Acura for first car?

Q: Im fifteen, going to be turning 16 in a few months. Im starting to look at cars with my daddy and we found a 2003 Audi A4 1.8L TURBO and a 2005 Acura TL w/ Navigation System. He pretty much told me I could choose which one I wanted since theyre both in the same price range. Which one is better for a person that is just starting off driving? Also which brand is better? Are they stick shift? Thanks so much:)
(2012-02-27 19:59:34)

A: Audi A4's come in both stick and automatic so we can't tell you what transmission is in the particular car you are looking for. The Acura TL is most likely an automatic. I would go for the Acura TL as the maintenance costs to keep it on the road will be slighly less than in the 03 Audi.

WHICH CAR IS BETTER??

Q: My friend is getting a 2001 toyota celica for his first car.
Im getting a 1990's Acura Integra for mine.

Which one would win in a race?

Which one is better? (quality, faster, get what you paid for type of deal)

The celica seems like a girl car to me, what about you?

Which one would you rather own?

Can you list pros and cons of both cars. Whats the same between them?

Thanks, Casey!

P.S. (I will choose you answer for best answer if I like it! :D)
(2012-02-22 14:34:31)

A: Acura

I think celicas are ugly and they do look like girl cars. i have an acura and i love it. ;)

Can i include a helmet when i finance a motorcycle?

Q: like include it to the total amount owed
(2012-02-28 12:41:09)

A: My friend got the pair of intercom helmets included with his new Honda Goldwing. But he has great credit & they are Honda products. Most dealers will at least give you a discount when you buy a new or even used bike.

If you had to choose a car that was under $45,000, what kind would you get?

Q: Im not sure what i want...so anyone got any ideas???
(2012-02-28 11:01:33)

A: Depends on what you are looking for.

If you need a Large SUV - Acura MDX.
If you would like a sports car - Chevy Corvette base
If you would like a sedan - Infiniti G37

Deciding what 125cc to get HELP?

Q: Hi, I am having a really hard time finding a decent 125cc. I know of what bikes are good and what are best to steer clear from ( Chinese makes and such )
But as I have a slightly low budget (I think) for a 125cc I am looking for the "step down" from these top 125cc's I see tearing round colchester, Aprilia RS, Yamaha YZF, Caviga Mito's and more.
So if anyone can maybe steer me to a few options of bikes It'd be much appreciated!

ChrisJet
(2012-02-27 13:28:28)

A: Try looking a bit older - a Honda with a few miles on the clock will still be better than some newer / lower mileage bikes as they're so reliable! I started out 6 years ago on a 1990 NSR125 two-stroke which was great, a decent price (think I paid £750 for it), and it was easy to work on so I stripped and cleaned it over the winter to make sure it was in best condition.

POLL: what car do you drive?

Q: i drive a nisan 350z
(2012-02-27 15:36:22)

A: 01 Honda civic ex coupe

Can't complain, parents bought it and pay for gas and insurance

I'll get something nicer down the road, perhaps when my insurance rates go down

What is your opinion on this?

Q: What is the best manufactuer of cars and motorcycles?
(2012-02-22 09:36:33)

A: Cars, maybe Lexus or Acura. Mercedes isn't what it used to be. I really like Porsche too but they're not really general-purpose.

Motorcycles, BMW or Honda. BMW was the best for a long time but I think they're just too complex these days. Honda has the best reliability and longevity. But all the Japanese brands are very good.

My engine is making a weird rumbling noise when i press the gas.?

Q: I thought it might be an exhaust leak because i have a really bad one in the manifold...Is this a possibility or is it something else?
it is a 1999 ford escort ZX2 coupe 2.0lt 4 cylinder engine
(2012-02-26 16:34:41)

A: Is it a Honda? That must be why.

does anyone know if a 2011 honda accord driver wheel airbag is the same as a 2012 honda accord airbag?

Q:
(2012-02-27 19:19:50)

A: The 2011 Accords use the same airbags as the 2012s.
The only difference between the two years is that Honda added a USB interface standard.
Other than that, everything was just carried over.

i need a new car an suggestions?

Q:
(2012-02-27 21:37:01)

A: Honda Accord...

I work at a auto auction and recently started wondering where they make Hyundai's and Infinitis ?

Q: Does anybody know where there factories are based i think Infinitis a part of Toyota but im not sure lik Cadillacs made from GM o yea i was wondering where acuras are from too
(2012-02-21 22:06:45)

A: Hyundai makes most of their cars in South Korea unfortunately. And Infiniti makes most of their cars in Japan. Also Infiniti is really just Nissan, Acura is just Honda, and Lexus is just Toyota. The Japs tricked the Americans good.

Simple Honda Civic Question?

Q: Im getting my first car soon. But my budget is only around $4000 dollars. I have about $500 saved up on my own, but my parents will pay the $4000.
I found this car on craigslist and it seems like a good deal. Ive done some research and found that it is a pretty good car.
Is this a good deal, what do you think? I really badly want this car. Are they reliable? Fast?
Any cool information about you know about this car?

Link to car on craigslist: http://bend.craigslist.org/cto/2841845937.html

Thanks, Casey!
(2012-02-26 15:28:13)

A: Could be. But best to get it checked out by a tech; a pre-purchase inspection.
First look it up at KBB.com kelly blue book, for your area. Price sounds high. He did say OBO, so you CAN offer $3000. :)

they are pretty reliable, yes. check consumer reports march issues for that... which I just checked, :) looks very good. no black marks at all.

Honda's are popular also because there is so many ways to make them faster, handle better, etc.
BTW, it you do test drive it: test the clutch: best way to do that is: while in 4th or 5th gear at 30 t0 40 mph, give it full throttle, then keeping the throttle at full, push the clutch pedal down and RIGHT back up so less than half a second all the way down. listen to how long it takes to match engine speed with car speed, if more than 2 seconds, the clutch is wearing. On a really worn clutch, that will still be working fine, it can take up to 5 or more seconds to return/match speed. and, on a clutch that is really close to going out the speed will never match.

btw, the solenoid he replaced is not a mod, it's a repair for an existing stock part.

Is a bmw considered a sports car?

Q: like yrs 97-2001. all the ones im lookin at are automatic. would they be high on insurance? im 18.
(2012-02-26 17:04:20)

A: The Z4, 6 series, and the Ms are considered sports cars, while the rest are sporty. The have just about perfected the sports sedan, the 3 series, it's as close to as sports car as you can get with four doors. Insurance is going to high for two reasons, you're 18(the killer) and BMWs are premium cars and most of them can get going pretty quick, a BMW will be more to insure than a Honda or Ford from the same year. I'm 18 and I have an 02 325i, and the insurance is about $1500, but I live in a very rural area so rates are much lower than if you live in a city.

The real killer isn't going to be the insurance, but the maintenance and repairs, I've the car since I turned 16, so two and a half years and I've spent about $3800 keeping the car running, not including tries and gas, and it just hit 150K miles last week. You may spend less than I do since I drive a lot, about 20K miles a year. I love my BMW, but I do I wish I had something more practical somedays. I would look into something a bit more economical if I were you.

Is the Apollo 250cc a good?

Q: CountyImports is selling it for $1,689 on a special offer when there regular price is $6,999. I'm 14 almost 15 and don't care about racing. I just want a bike that will last and be fun to ride around my yard and down the street with. There are also some dirt bike trails near me so that works, and my cousins have a lot of space in NY. So is the Apollo ABG 250cc worth buying for $1,689? And is it a bike that will last 3+ years if used around 5 hours a week or so?
Here is the link:

THANKS
* IS the Apollo 250cc A good bike?

TYPO sorry
(2012-02-27 14:37:51)

A: Nope, it sucks.. get 250 four stroke by either Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki cause they last forever and have tons of support. Anything over 2004 will keep running for years.

Best Car for 16 year old?

Q: Hi, so i am a 15 year old (turning 16 in August) and i want a car for my birthday. My dad is willing to pay 5000 if i get A's and B's on my report card. If the car price goes over 5000 ill have to pay for it. Currently i have around 400 in my wallet and no job (lmao got that 400 from the past 3 years of gifts). However it is possible for me to get a job now. I would like a under 75000 miles car. Either a sedan, non-sport coupe or hatchback. Preferably the hatchback. No sports cars because the insurance would be too costly. I am currently looking at a Ford Focus either a ZX3 or ZX5 (my dad said i cant get the SVT version because its too fast - 185hp). I also like the Mazda 3 hatchback. Can you please give me some other ideas on what car to pick. I am not a fan of modding my car so that is not a option. Thanks!
(2012-02-27 18:27:20)

A: Well, a 16-yr old needs a little stylin' so see if you can find a Honda Prelude. I don't think they're considered sports cars but check with your insurance. If they are, then try to find a 2-door Accord. Don't sweat the miles so much on Hondas. They'll give you a solid 150k.

You can't go wrong with a Civic either. Oh, one more. I own a Mazda 3 presently. Good car.

Good luck with those A's and B's

What is a nice car that can be customed to street race?

Q: I want a car that is nice and i can custom it to the extreme. I need somthing that got alot of power and has a sexy look.
It also has to be around $20,000
It also has to be around $20,000
(2012-02-21 21:39:15)

A: you can customize these as much as you want
toyota surpa
nissan 350z
mazda rx-7
mustang
camaro
acura integra

i want a car and was looking at the Acura NSX and the Audi R8 V10 and a Lamborghini but which should i get?

Q: i dont know which laborghini, and i wanted to know how much how much each of those cars cost..
forget the second "how much" someone was talking to me....
(2012-02-26 17:17:58)

A: The Acura NSX can cost anywhere from $25,000 to $80,000 depending on the year and miles and condition. If you are talking about the new 2015 Acura NSX based on the 2013 concept as shown in the Super bowl commercials and the new Avengers Movie, it will cost just under $100,000 new.

The Audi R8 at cheapest costs $110,000 used, but close to $200,000 new for the V10 model.

The Lamborghini Gallardo is the cheapest model, which is the same car as the Audi R8 V10. Same engine, same AWD system, Lots of the same parts. These also cost $200,000. But you can get a used 2004-2005 model for $80,000.

First car? Is this a good first car?

Q: My parents said its ok to get an 03 tiburon GT v6. Its $6900(will bargain) and only has 75000 miles.
(2012-02-25 19:58:54)

A: 1) Will you be paying the insurance? Insurance can cost a lot, especially if you are a male(For instance, an '07 Honda Fit costs around $100 for full coverage with a 19 yo male and a '05 Honda s2000 costs around $250 with the same driver). Sports cars cost more to insure, especially if you want to have full coverage instead of just liability (personally I would recommend full).
2) Are you paying for the gas?
3) I don't know about the price or that modelin particular but I know a guy who had a very nice Tiburon. It was definitely a quick car which may get you into trouble...

***Please do not quote me on the prices stated above, it has been a few weeks since i looked them up

Where is the 12 volt power socket in a 2006 acura mdx?

Q:
(2012-02-21 12:32:23)

A: Check inside the ashtray... Not sure that's where it is in the MDX but I've driven a few Acura vehicles that had the outlet hidden inside the ashtray

What else is similar or better if I'm considering buying a Mazda RX-8?

Q: I've test drove a Mazda RX-8 today, and it was an ok drive. I know that the rotary engines need alot of care and maintenance. What other affordable sports cars should I consider that are around the same price range that can give me similar or better performance?
(2012-02-25 17:01:53)

A: a similar car to the RX8 is probably the Honda S2000, but I reckon you should buy a 4 door car instead for long term reasons. Cars such as a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution or the Subaru WRX

What kind of bike should I get? ?

Q: So I'm 13, a girl that weighs 98 pounds, and is 5"0. I want to start riding dirt bikes, but I have no experience whatsoever! I've riden a four-wheeler once when I was 7, if that's even remotely close to a dirt bike? But what I'm asking is what kind of bike do you recommend? What brand? Money's not an issue, so yeah. Whatever tips you have for me too! I want to race and trail ride too. Thanks for your feedback!
(2012-02-26 16:46:05)

A: ATVs are nothing like dirt bikes.

Get a CRF150R. They are good bikes for people who have never ridden before. You're too light and short for a 250f, so it's pretty much you're only option for a decent 4 stroke.

CRF is always Honda. KX is Kawasaki, RM is Suzuki, and YZ is Yamaha. Husqvarna also used CR, but Honda is known for it.

If you've never ridden, you shouldn't race until you learn the bike. I'm sure you know nothing about bike maintenance, and that's a big thing you need to race.

Pinch your knees in the air.... And on whoops...

would the Nissan 350z be a good first car?

Q: it Know it's considered a sports car but my brothers first car was also considered a sports car..I'm 15 and this car looks amazing..any tips? my whole family knows we and I (I will help, I have a job) can afford it also.
(2012-02-26 14:03:17)

A: Eh, unless you have another car I would not get it. You know it only has 2 seats right? You can't pile your friends in it. Try to find a sports car that can fit 4 or 5 people, like an Acura RSX or Subaru STI

Fuel pump 1993 acura legend?

Q:
(2012-02-25 06:14:40)

A: If you think you are having trouble with it you should be aware of a couple things. Honda fuel pumps are very reliable but the fuel pump relays, known as "main relays" are one of the most common Honda/Acura troubles of all. Even when the relay is working properly the fuel pump only stays on for two seconds after turning the ignition to the "run" position if the engine is not started.

Is it worth boying 2001 accord with 50 thousand miles?

Q: So i am trying to find 01 or 02 honda accord under sixty thousand miles . I found some from seven thousand to eight thousand dollars with like fifty thousand miles. I really like them since there are good cars besides thieir trans. Please give me your idea.
Thanks a lot.
(2012-02-26 05:20:02)

A: I'm glad you are aware of the transmission trouble. Most of the vulnerable transmissions have probably been replaced by now but if you get a low mileage car like a 2001 6 cylinder with 50K miles your risk is higher. The sad thing is Honda probably knows the whole story on the transmiussions but they aren't telling us what they know. The first source has as good an explanation as any, and why even normal driving suddenly started destroying what had historically been reliable transmissions.

I prefer used cars in the 100K mile range. At 50K miles it is hard to tell how a car has been treated; at 100K miles it is hard to hide. I can reliably get 250K miles out of a car with 100K miles on it (and is still good) but only 150K miles for sure out of one with only 50K miles on it. In this case a 2001 Accord with 100K miles or more has a better chance of having an updated transmission than one with only 50K miles on it. In addition, a car that has not been driven much is very unlikely to have been taken in for the recalls on the car and it will almost certainly have the original timing belt, which should have been replaced 4 years ago based on age. Personally, I would rule out any with under 100K miles at least.

Car for through oil like nobodys business!?

Q: I have a 94 Mazda 626, 143,500 miles. I have to get my oil changed after every 1500miles because it gets so low my engine starts ticking. I haven't noticed a leak, and no smoke, should I be worried? I know it's old and has a lot of miles but I've put a lot of work in this car and it's a rock! Lol thanks!
(2012-02-26 03:26:42)

A: You only need to change every 3,000 miles. If it gets low, add oil (same kind). Start adding a small amount of motor oil to the gas each time you refill (only 1 or 2 ounces). This will help seal the rings and if your oil consumption goes down, you know it was through the rings and not through the valve guides. I have a 15 year old Honda that was burning 1 qt every 800 miles. I started using the oil in the gas and the consumption fell to a qt every 1500. I read an article about new cars and a purchaser of a new Ford was complaining about it using a qt every 1500. Ford would not do anything about it because that was considered within specifications.

Motor Cycling Question Help?

Q: Hey am Turning 17 in August, I was wondering if I took my CBT in June will I be able to ride 125cc or just a 50cc? Also what is the max speed a 125cc can go to in mph. And could you recommend some good bikes? Much thanks
(2012-02-26 06:42:54)

A: Until you are 17 you are stuck with a 50cc when you are 17 you can ride a 125cc.

Try a Honda CBF or CG or a Yamaha DT.

Would it be cheaper to....?

Q: Buy a used sklyine 99 and renovate it and install hydrogen fuel cells to improve gas mileage?

Leather seats and changing transmission in a Honda Accord 1900's?

Q: I was wondering how much it would be to install leather seats (not covers) into a 1990's honda accord, and changing the transmission from auto to manual would be. I live in Melbourne and I've search on carsales.com.au and with both auto and manual i get 300 results and then i select manual and i get like 15 so there's not many manual honda accords available. I really love honda's, and this is going to be my first car. I've heard that I can go to the wreckers and get other leather seats from another car but can i get any leather seats (from a BMW for example) and put them into a honda accord? And with changing the transmission from auto to manual are there any risks in doing this? Thanks
(2012-02-25 15:46:34)

A: OK, let's start with the seats. The laws in Australia are very strict regarding car seats. To put (as you stated as an example), BMW seats into your Honda you will need to modify the mounting points of the seats. To be within the law this needs to be done by a certified automotive technician. To put it simply, it needs to be done by someone who is qualified and certified in altering the structural integrity of a motor vehicle. Why not approach some vehicle upholsterers and get some quotes regarding recovering the original seats with leather.

As for the trans, if only 15 out of 300 cars for sale are manual then that will make the cost of a secondhand manual transmission very expensive due to the principle of supply and demand.

You will not only need the manual trans, but also the flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, clutch pedal, pedal box, master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic lines, hydraulic line mounting brackets and possibly manual right and left dive shafts. (if the manual ones differ from the auto ones which is a possibility).

In the long run, it's much easier/cheaper to wait awhile and buy the car you really want, rather than buy a car now and try and turn it into the car you really want.

Hope this helps.

Question about power and lights?

Q: I need 10 3 foot floressant bulbs on for hours on end. I do not want a generator as they can be noisy and require fuel, also exaust fumes. (I understand you can get silent case ones but thier to expensive).

Is there anything i can power these lights with? Maybe a massive battery or multiple batteries i can charge at home or another location. Does that exist?
(2012-02-25 04:02:30)

A: It sounds like you're not near a source of power.
You have numerous options, some are more expensive than others.
(1) Coleman (Welsbach mantle) propane camper's lantern. ($35)
(2) Deep cycle marine batteries ($200 each), 300 watt inverter $200+
( these batteries weigh about 100 lbs. each)
(3) Quiet 1000 watt generator (eg: Honda EU1000i-$800)( meets California emission standards)
(4) LED fluorescent substitutes (2× light,1/4 power)

More about your circumstances would bring better ideas.

HiDoes all BMW X5,3.0si, 2008s are AWD? Any importnt reason to not to buy it Or compare to Accura MDX 2008?

Q: Hi
I am in process of buying a BMW X5,3.0 si, 2008 and I am not sure to choose this or an Accura MDX 2008. I am going to buy it and import it to Canada , Can somebody help me to decide between this two cars? Anything I should know
(2012-02-19 22:07:20)

A: It depends what you're looking for. As much as I love Acura (I own one) I would probably go with the X5 ASSUMING it has a warranty!!! Without a warranty, the MDX would be my choice hands down. They are both very attractive luxury SUV's but reliability & interior goes to Acura where performance and exterior styling is led by BMW (just by a tiny bit.)

Also, from what I've heard, importing a vehicle costs more than just purchasing one from Canada, so you might want to check that out and make sure it would be beneficial.

2007 nissan altima vs 2007 honda accord?

Q: Which would be better in terms of:
Style?
Mileage (very important. Lets say you drive on average about 65 miles an hour. which would have the better mileage?)
Cost of car?
Insurance?
Reliability?
Overall?
(2012-02-24 16:16:31)

A: the honda accord is better, has more quality and the materials looks more expensive

the altima looks cheap !

Poll: What do you think is the ugliest car ever built?

Q: How bout the most beautiful one?
(2012-02-25 16:54:38)

A: Ugliest car built--that's not ugly on purpose? That would be the AMC Pacer. Ugly as sin. My aunt had one of those The car's basically a snowglobe on dinky, tiny wheels. Until you see the sun shine and realize that then the car's whole cheap vinyl interior has just become a rolling greenhouse.

This is bad once you realize the back seat is the size of a small couch and you're in the middle, and the windows are too (too) far (far) awayyy (away, away, ..way....). o_O

Most Beautiful? Call me That 70s Dude, but the late 1970s Chevy Corvettes. Ok, they were mediocre as muscle cars, but the _curves_, seriously. This was the first car I had ever seen where I _wanted_ to see the rear end of the vehicle.

More modern, you say? Well I've seen the 'Vette in person, mind you....but of cars I haven't seen up close, I'd have to say the Ferrari Testarossa. The proportions on that car were just perfect from every angle.

And most Beautiful Cute/Small Car? That would be the Honda Civic CRX. No, not the first one, the second-gen _rounder_ version. Yes, it was heavier and not as perky--but for a tiny car it too had perfect proportions and curves.

Im a 21 year old male. Looking for a luxury sedan. BMW 3-Series (06-09) or Audi A4 (06-08)?

Q: Which one is more relaible?
Less to maintain?
More appealing for a 21 year old college student with a average job?
(2012-02-19 18:16:28)

A: I'm a college student as well. I bought a 2006 BMW 325i in 2010. Although there were only 60k miles on it, there seemed to always be something to fix, and dealership oil changes cost a ridiculous amount. I ended up selling it just 6 months later for a 2007 Acura TSX, which I had no problems with and still runs like new. I have heard Audi maintenance is expensive as well. I would just go with one of the following since you just have an "average" job
-Acura TSX
-Acura TL
-Infiniti G35/G37
-Lexus IS250/IS350
-Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ
-Nissan Maxima

These are all luxury or premium cars

98 acura cl automatic transmission?

Q: so im 18 and I looked at a pretty nice 98 acura cl 2.8 with automatic transmission. Me and my dad test drove it and it seemed nice clean and mechanically in order. They want 3,000 for it and it has 140,000 miles on it. Well my dad payed 100 to hold the car for tomorrow to withdraw the money. I have been researching about the car and there seems to be a major automatic transmission problem. I dont know what to do my dad will get so mad at me if I tell him.Should we buy it or back down?
(2012-02-19 21:00:46)

A: The first generation Acura CL for 1998 was fine, it was entry level luxury based on the Honda Accord. In 1996 the 4 door Acura Vigor model was updated/renamed the Acura TL, this CL is basically a coupe version of this TL sedan that replaced the Acura Legend. As was the case with its sister model Honda Accord, it was available with 3.0V6, 2.3, 2.2 engines but only the four cylinder models had an option for the manual transmissions. Since the 2001 redesign, the 3.2 CL made use of an automatic transmission that suffered repeated failures. Excessive wear from the powerful V6 caused the 3rd gear clutch pack to disintegrate resulting in particles clogging tiny passageways and the normal flow of fluid. This resulted in overheating and eventual failures in this transmission. The Odyssey, MDX, Accord V6, and Oasis suffered from this design defect as well.

Do luxury cars ride better than the every day car?

Q: I dident know if i should buy the luxury car beacuse i really dont care for leather and all the intier stuff. I would get a luxury car if rides better but i never took a test drive. Please dont just say yeah...... Give a explanation
(2012-02-25 12:33:04)

A: Certainly luxury cars have much better suspensions. Suspensions are designed for various reason. A cadillac has a real soft ride. Others like an Acura seem to be designed for more performance and handling. Softness and handling are somewhat opposing. But either way, the luxury cars perform better on both than the standard suspension. I had and Acura with manual transmission and I love the way it hugged the road. I sat in the back of a Cadillac on a long trip and it was smooth sailing. There may be some top end every day cars with very good suspensions. You have to get car and driver and do some research.

Which car would fit me best?

Q: I am in need of a new car and would really like a nice one. My all time favorite car would be Nissan Silvia s15, but unfortunately that car is almost impossible to get in my country.
I am in search of a coupe with a good front to back ratio. Engine vise I would prefer nothing to big because of the ludicrous gas prices.

Which car would you recommend me?
(2012-02-25 05:00:50)

A: NISSAN 370Z
MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT
HONDA CIVIC LI
LOTUS ELISE
CHEVY COBALT SS

Automatic Ac question?

Q: I have a honda accord 2012 lx, and I feel some wind blowing from my vents, when I didn't turn it on.
(2012-02-25 13:28:02)

A: OK, this car came with an owner's manual. This book, apparently a mystery to you and many others, has all the information you need as to the AC controls work and settings possible. Once the car has that you need not to turn the AC each time the car is operated. By the way, proper names require capitalization. You own a 2012 Honda Accord LX. Please use correct grammar rules. So, all you need to to is open this book to the AC (not Ac) section, read up and learn the modes, setting, controls, etc. that his marvelous automobile has so that you not only understand how they work but the times to use the capabilities of this system. For example, the Defrost control for the rear window and the Defog control for the front window or windshield or windscreen. These modern cars have multitude of settings some for hot weather, some for cold weather, how to direct the air and control the temperature. This book also has safety information as well as maintenance and servicing schedules. There are important to have done as they will insure proper safety levels status of things like the brakes, motor oil, transmission fluid, coolant fluid, etc. Also in this book is an explanation as to what warning lights or icons mean and what action to do when they do happen. It tells you how to check the motor oil level and automatic transmission levels, how to operate the radio, equipment in the trunk and even how to clean the vehicle. So, read up. Lots of information a car owner should know for sure. Enjoy the car! Best wishes.

What is the "silliest" reason anyone has ever been "successfully" sued?

Q: Just wondered out of curiosity....
(2012-02-24 00:46:51)

A: Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son.

5th Place (tie): 19-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000 and medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Mr. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

5th Place (tie): Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning. He couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, and Mr. Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the homeowner's insurance claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed to the tune of $500,000. In my opinion this is so outrageous that it should have been 2nd Place!

4th Place: Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500 and medical expenses after being bitten on the buttocks by his next door neighbor's beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. The award was less than sought because the jury felt the dog might have been just a little provoked at the time, by Mr. Williams who had climbed over the fence into the yard and was shooting it repeatedly with a pellet gun.

3rd Place: A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her coccyx (tailbone). The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

2nd Place: Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms.Walton was trying to s neak through the window in the ladies room to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses.

1st Place: This year's runaway winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, (from an OU football game), having driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back & make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, th e RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded her $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons around.

I really need help with this car trouble?

Q: i have a 95 honda accord that: oil leak, squealing noise when i drive off then the noise stops, when i shift gears she jerks & when i drive she jerks, at a stop light the thermostat meter goes up to the red then when i start to drive again it goes down, the check engine light goes on & off at times, i need a new axel supposedly A mechanic told me, the other day she died on me, the check engine oil n battery lights came on...etc. i paid 1900 for it but im looking to get another car..possibly a 2001 pt cruiser i hear those are pretty decent OPEN TO SOME OPINIONS
(2012-02-24 17:57:36)

A: First, your Honda is not worth repairing and no one in their right mind would buy it. Sell it to a junk car buyer - you can probably get $300 - $400, depending on the condition of the body.
Second, a PT Cruiser may be a good choice for you, depending on your situation. I have looked at purchasing a PT Cruiser more than once. My opinion is that it is underpowered and doesn't get very good gas mileage for its size. Kind of cool looking, though.
Keep in mind that 2001 was 13 years ago and any car that hasn't been well cared for will not be a good option for you. If you are in school, ask a teacher (preferably one who teaches business or economics) if they would help you analyze your options. If no one can help you, these are the things I consider when purchasing a used car:

Is it in good condition? (average mileage, clean body and interior, mechanically sound).
What, if anything, has to be done to make the car safe to operate? Are the tires/brakes/lights in good working order?
Does it get good gas mileage?
Does it fit my needs, i.e. do I need a pickup truck, an economy car, or a family car?
What is the cost of ownership? (Total of purchase price + interest + insurance + estimated fuel and repair costs over the expected time of ownership)

Finally, be smart about your purchase. Do your homework, be patient, and seek the advise of those near you who have your best interest at heart (your family and friends - not the person selling the car).

Good Luck

Good cosplay ideas please!?

Q: I love manga and cosplaying. I'm going to an anime convention soon and I'm having problems thinking of someone to cosplay as. I want to be a known character, but not blend in with everyone else. I'm fairly short (5'), blue eyes, hair can be dyed anyway. I want a slightly easy character, but also one that looks impressive. I'll watch or read any anime/manga suggestions. Please help me look for an interesting character to cosplay as!

POLL: Honda or Toyota?

Q:

MSRP, invoice price or true market value?

Q: I'm going to buy a car I've been doing my research I know what's their differences but I'm not sure which one Is right to fight for. I'm really scared to over pay. Should I stick with the msrp, the invoice, the maker value? Or the sticker priced :/ help please!!! And thanks do much in advance
(2012-02-24 02:18:19)

A: It totally depends on the car and the supply/demand of the vehicle where you live.
Don't blindly trust any of these numbers. TMV is rarely accurate.

If you are afraid of overpaying, be proactive and go right to the source to get your information.
For some brands of cars, you can use a site like truecar.com to get a no obligation quote with multiple, local dealers.

If you are looking at something like Honda or Acura, who refuse to work with truecar, go to the 3 closest dealers websites and get 3 independent quotes for the vehicle.
If a dealer refuses to give you a written quote, then refuse to do business with them and move on to the next dealer that will.

If you like, you can tell me the make/model you are interested in and your zip code and I will provide you with a ballpark of what you should expect to pay.

Best weekend driving/ summer car?

Q: Looking at just about anything at this point just want to hear some other opinions.. what I'm looking for is a fun car to drive while the weather is nice and will be garaged during winter.. some of the main cars I'm looking at our 2006 ish 350z, 2005 corvette, 2008 mustang Gt, 2008 challenger r/t, but I'm open to other cars like rx8 and etc.. don't like the new camaro or the 370z really.. and I'm looking for the perfect combo of fun car, agressive styling, and decent insurance rates.. thx for the opinions
(2012-02-23 06:06:40)

A: summer = convertible around the year 92 Mazda Miata is always fun its 2 seats. but if your looking for a newer car newer mustangs um honda s2000 all the cars you listed are nice but if you want a summer car nothing is more fun than having the top down

What is the average insurance for motorcycles vs cars in the US?

Q: I need an average insurance price for a cheap bike and the average insurance for a cheap car.
(2012-02-23 07:04:41)

A: Loaded question. It depends on a lot.

But: Thru State Farm, I am 55, retired. My '80 Chevy, a sleeper of a grocery-getter, minimum coverage, is $52 a month. I have been driving almost continuously since 16, no tickets/accident last 5 years
,
My '83 Honda CB650 (really a "sports bike"), would be about $25 more, added to existing policy, liability, only, again.

Adding any vehicle gets a break over just insuring one bike, as broker knows you can only operate one at a time.

Bike insurance is cheap, usually about 1/2 a cage is in US.

GEICO or Progressive could be cheaper, but S/F has been there 100 years, they have a better reputation for paying off and not dropping coverage/raising rates on a violation/accident.

help about fuel efficiency?

Q: i am doing a geography controlled assessment about fuel efficiency so please can you help me out by saying loads of bout fuel efficiency for example:

the honda clarity (the hydrogen car) including how to make and buy hydrogen pros and cons
hybrid cars and who makes them and why they are good
are electric cars dangerous and add to the carbon footprint environment and are they the future
Public transport
and anything else that relates to fuel efficiency and can help cut back on fossil fuels
I wanna build an opinion i am swayed for the honda clarity but hydrogen requires fossil fuels to make so hmmmmm all opinions taken :) thanks in advance
(2012-02-23 11:29:50)

A: When it comes to hydrogen power, the emission of water vapor seems harmless enough, however anything in excess is pollution. Some people have expressed concerns that a increase in water vapor along with our high CO2 levels will cause increased "climate change". When it comes to the fact that the honda clarity requires fossil fuels you have to ask yourself how many things around you required fossil fuels. Anything grown with a chemical fertilizer requires fossil fuels, plastics, and even the shoes on your feet. Hybrid cars are not necessarily all that good, because of the increased cost, many owners will never see a benefit compared to the standard model of the same car. Not only do the cars still have all the gasoline components, they also have the electrical components that needs to be disposed of properly. Something we are not seeing is that cars are much more fuel efficient today, but they are also much heavier because of increased safety regulations, so it may not look all that good compared to a 1980's honda that got 50 miles to a gallon. I think one thing we could do to greatly increase efficiency of transportation is to let computers control it completely. When you get into a personal vehicle you input your destination and it takes you there as efficiently as possible while at the same time maybe reducing the need for the heavy safety equipment needed for human drivers.

Im buying a Honda Ruckus in a couple days...What are some things I should know?

Q: I have heard you shouldn't stay all the way on the throttle for more than a block. Is that true?
Also how will I be able to tell when I should get gas?
Do I have to do some kind of mixture for the gas?

Anything you can think of will be helpful. Thanks.
(2012-02-23 19:11:08)

A: I think I already answered this question for you on reddit. Still, there may be others that find this page first.

The Ruckus has a low fuel light that means you have 30 miles or less to refuel. No, you do not have to mix gas, this is a four stroke engine. Regular unleaded is fine.

I ride miles at full throttle, and soon you'll agree that there is no way to avoid it. It goes 28 mph uphill and maybe 42 down. Changing that is expensive.

Here are the most common ways to make the Ruckus go faster:

89 YZ 125 rider weight help.?

Q: Hi YA. I'm thinking about buying a 89 yz 125 for $700. Now here's the problem.. im a big Guy weighing in at 320 lbs. And I want to know if I will kill this bike or not. I saw it in action but was afraid to ride it and I fell in love with it. I know I'd look really dumb riding this little bike but its already got a shock capable of holding me up but I'm worried about. The power. It will mostly get rid on flatland but there are so pretty steep hills. I would get a 250 or even 450 but I just don't have the money, and besides who would turn down a 2 stroke? :)
(2012-02-23 23:13:34)

A: Maximum racing weight for a 125 is around 165lbs. Anything over that and you start stressing the engine and your competition will have a huge advantage over you.

You are not racing though, so this really doesn't apply to you, but your weight will put undue stress on the engine. This means you will need to rebuild more often and items are going to wear out faster than they normally would.

You should look into a 250/400cc+ 2-stroke or a 450 4-stroke.

I have purchased a 82 Honda XL500 for $850, a 1987 Honda CR500R for $850 and a 1982 Kawasaki KX 250 for $450 all off them of Ebay and Craigslist. You can also try Bikefinds to locate used bikes in your area.

I weigh 240lbs and I still race a 125 once in a while, because I'm old, stubborn and like beating 250 4-strokes with a half size old, antiquated and obsolete 2-stroke. My main riding/race bike is the Honda CR500 R, this is also an old dinosaur 2-stroke.

Go with a larger engine. You can locate a good used 250 or open class bike that would better suit your size.

Since this section has turned intto the P&S section 2.0, what kind of car do you have?

Q: I have a 2008 Honda Civic Si Coupe, which I got for HS graduation.

BQ: Would putting mugen spoilers on them look stupid?
D-Will- Lol, I'm actually being serious. A few people here were talking about cars, so I'm just curious as to what people drive.
(2012-02-23 23:36:30)

A: BACK FROM WENDY'S!
I drive a 98 Acura Integra. Dude you are spoiled if you got that for high school graduation lol. And with that money you could of got an rsx or an sti. Its cool though.

BQ: Ehhhhh, No I don't think so

Which is the most lightweight honda/acura from 92-12 ?

Q: I want to know which is the most lightweight....civic integra rsx etc. Just between honda and acura. Including hatchbacks coupes and four doors. I wanna see which is a good project to start.
(2012-02-22 20:17:16)

A: The '92-'95 Honda Civic hatches preferably the trim levels of Vx or Cx. If you want to go a little bit older the '88-'91 CRX's are even lighter than the Civic hatches.

Best first motorcycle for a female?

Q: So with gas prizes being crazy, and me needing a car... I'm thinking on a bike instead. I want something that goes pretty fast, at least up to 100 (no slow scooters...)
But I know nothing about bikes. are some just for dirt? I don't want a scooter, I want a motorcycle, and u don't want a harley. I want something not too expensive, I will probably buy a used one. Any help?
(2012-02-22 23:21:00)

A: This is the motorcycle racing section, your question would be better suited for the Transportation/motor cycle category.

I will give you some advice since you are just starting out.

They make street bikes, dirt bikes and also "dual sport" bikes. There are sub category in each category.

I would suggest that you go to the local dealerships and sit on several bikes to see which bikes you fit best on. Then after you look and have an idea of what bikes you like, look for a used one. You can save thousands of dollars purchasing used. Look on Ebay, Craigslist or Bikefinds to locate a bike near you.

The money you save can purchase riding gear. SNELL approved helmet, gloves, leather jacket, gloves and boots. Always wear your riding gear whenever you ride. Leather is nice because it is like a second skin, but the new heavy Condura/synthetic fiber jackets work well also and some come with padding built in.

What kind of riding are you going to be doing? Just road? Just street? City riding? Expressway riding? Will you have someone riding with you - riding double?

You should be looking at a single cylinder 4-stroke. If you plan on just riding in the city with no or little expressway riding you can get away with a 250cc single cylinder 4-stroke. If you plan on riding doing expressway riding or riding double, you should get a 500cc single cylinder 4-stroke. I would not recommend a multi-cylinder 4-stroke for a beginning rider.

Since it is going to be your first bike, I would recommend one of the "dual sport" bikes. Honda makes a CRF230L that gets 90 mpg. http://powersports.honda.com/2009/crf230l/offroad.aspx

Good luck, have fun and welcome to the sport.

The Honda Civic Wagon!?

Q: I use to love Honda's station wagon's version of the Civic!

It went all the way into the 1990's before being discontinued!

But why did Honda stop making a great little car!
(2012-02-23 01:18:53)

A: There used to be an ACCORD WAGON also, until HONDA discovered they could get more money by selling people SUV's.

Could I get approved for a car loan if I make $700 a month.?

Q: The car I want is a Honda fit. I have no credit history. The car payment would be around $300 a month at the bank I want to go through. I have no other expenses. My insurance and gas is paid by my parents along with food and housing. They offered to consign with me but then I would have I share it with my mom and get a color that my dad liked. What should I do?
(2012-02-23 15:52:57)

A: You don't earn a lot of money and you have no credit of your own so you will be required to get a cosignor if you intend to get a loan to pay for this Honda.

Sharing the car isn't the end of the world and compromising with your dad on the color shouldn't even be an issue. If those are his terms then you have to agree or else risk not getting the car.

who thinks laptops should be cheaper for poor families?

Q:
(2012-02-23 15:22:57)

A: Hate to say it but I don't think anything should be cheaper just because someone can't afford to pay the going rate. It's called living within ones means. I want a new Honda Civic but I can't afford one; therefore I won't be getting one.

How reliable is an '89 Audi 90?

Q: I am looking at buying an '89 Audi 90 on Craigslist, and was wondering what everyone thinks about them.
I'm just a high school student wanting something cheap, reliable, and stick shift. I don't want anything fancy because insurance goes way up. If you have any other car suggestions, let me know in the comments.
Thanks!
(2012-02-20 06:31:28)

A: cheap reliable and a stick.... why are you looking at a 23 year old car....

get something like an acura integra or a civic, because audi tends to be junk after 150k miles

another thing... you give us no price range, cheap to me for a car is under $5k, cheap to you might be $500, i just dont know...

2002 tahoe fuel gauge shows empty along with fuel warning light with fuel tank half full?

Q: First time this occurred was after changing fuel pump. fuel gauge would show plenty of fuel available, then next it along with light would indicate empty. Replaced new fuel pump stopping this from happenning until today(Feb. 22, 2012). The second new fuel pump was replaced last Sept. 2011
(2012-02-23 00:53:37)

A: We had this problem with my daughters Acura Legend. The replacement fuel sock was the wrong shape and we had to go back to the original one. Also, the pump and pickup must be ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL to the original for the gauge to be accurate. Many after market suppliers use one pump on many models when manufacturers use individual pumps, socks, and fuel gauge pickups for individual models. I hope you kept the original parts. Otherwise, buy from the dealer.

Trade in my Honda fit for a Camry ?

Q: I bought a Honda fit in 2009.... Its 2010 Sport 27500 miles on the car. I still owe about $6000. I love this car but it's just a 'bad luck' car for me. It's in good condition. And the blue book value is $12000- $13000. I want to get a normal size car. Im 5'4 so the car is good for me but my parents and brothers are very tall and they hate to sit in the back seat of my car. Ive noticed a lot of people don't see my car on the highway (where I spend most of my time bcos I commute to school mon- fri) and it scares me. One major problem that I had with the car is that the mastor cylinder was damaged and Honda paid for the damages in full and fixed it, but now I'm completely turned off that the brakes might fail again. I want to get a new 2011 or 2012 Camry-- the basic LE.

Should I make the trade... Or not..?!
(2012-02-22 13:00:50)

A: I would keep the Fit.

The Camry is larger, but also harder to park, worse on gas, more expensive to maintain and fix, higher on insurance. It just does not make sense. Also, the Fit has more headroom than the Camry since the Fit is a tall car.

The Honda is a great car that lasts very long. Chances of brake master cylinder going bad again in the next 75,000 miles is very slim.

Which is better? A civic or Jetta?

Q:
(2012-02-22 05:48:15)

A: If you're talking about a Volkswagen Jetta and a Honda Civic then the Volkswagen Jetta because it provides better safety and if you're just wanting a basic family car then that's the one to choose. And the first person who answered is right, though. They are both really slow compared to what cars I've been in...

Anyone got the wiring schematics for a 1979 cm400a hondamatic?

Q: I bought mine an the wires were all just hanging, the ignition has been taken off an it looks as if they tried to connect it by bypassing it. Ineed a picture diagram to see how it goes together.
(2012-02-22 21:21:33)

A: Honda site has the whole manual.. free download..

http://downloads.hondatech.info/Moto/CB/CB400/Honda%20Cb400%20Cb450%20Cm400%20Cm450%20Twins%20Nighthawk%20%281978-1987%29%20-%20Service%20Manual%20400%20Pag%28Eng%29.pdf

wiring will be the same as the CB/ CM 400/450

I have a 2010 camaro with 30,000 miles. the dealership recommended me to get the fuel injectors cleaned? ?

Q: Should I let them do it? Or are they just trying to get over on me?
(2012-02-22 08:02:43)

A: i would run a bottle of injector cleaner through it every time you fill it up, they are not going to take them out and hand clean them (at least i don't think so), but its an easy fear sell. i have 250,000 miles on the honda and have never touched the injectors and still get 34mpg and no sputtering. keep your fuel filters cleaned run good gas and run a bottle of injector cleaner every few tanks. tell the dealer to sell that crap to someone else your not buying. Then they will treat you like your crazy, they are all sales man even the guy at the service counter.

Which one has the edge: Honda Accord 2012 LX, or Toyota Camry 2012 LE?

Q: Both 4 cylinder
@C7S i agree toyota camry are hella ugly.. Guess I am getting me a Honda Accord ! And Hondas have a iPhone(siri) like feature.
@NIck, Fords are very unreliable. They will die at 100k miles.
(2012-02-22 09:20:31)

A: Honda Accord. More powerful, more fun to drive, handles better, better design inside and out. More technology.

The Camry has a smoother and quieter ride, but that is it.

why am i getting VTech codes (21) for my non VTech honda?

Q:
(2012-02-22 13:34:33)

A: what kind of engine do you have? that would help us to begin with, some honda's aren't "vtec" but have a vtec solenoid, which would give off the 21 code - the solenoid would need to be cleaned

Should I get a Honda Ruckus or a Tomos Moped?

Q: Both are in good condition. Dont worry about the price.
(2012-02-22 15:13:28)

A: The Honda Ruckus is a definite yes from me. Now, keep in mind I don't have much info on the Tomos bikes at all, but I know a lot about the Honda Ruckus. The Ruckus is built by Honda so it is very reliable and has a great fuel economy (which has been seen around 114mpg give or take a few). However, the best thing about the Honda Ruckus is its huge aftermarket. The aftermarket parts for this small, rugged, 49cc scooter is endless. There is just so much to do to this little bike. From a simple bolt-on exhaust, to the challenge of swapping the 49cc to a 150cc, the possibilities are endless.

Droping a 350 in a 97 honda civic?

Q: I got a Honda civic and I am in posesion of an old 72 350. The car is not capable of getting up the hill on my road in the ice and I need more power to do it. The hill is really tall and gets frozen a lot after rain. My question is can I do this and have the traction to get up at the same time or am I f*****? by the way don't say somthing like I am ruining the engine or somthing like that because I am only speculating on what might happen to my traction as I know just how fast the car would go. Also as I said the engine is not new and it's also in really bad shape so I know I won't do it.
(2012-02-22 15:44:38)

A: You'll have to modify the whole car. You'll have to buy a transmission to go with the 350, engine mounts, transmission cross member, a drive shaft and a rear end. You'll also have to buy new wheels and front hub assemblies, brakes, brake lines, brake master cylinder, automatic floor sifter, exhaust pipes and mufflers.....hmm im forgetting some but you'll need at least that. And when your done and get it running it still won't go up the icy hill because your going from a front wheel drive honda to a rear wheel car with a heavy motor in the front, so the back wheels will do nothing but spin. It shouldn't cost you more than $6000- $8000 to do the whole thing. Might be cheaper to put snow tires or chains on the honda and tune it up.

when transmission get hot in my Acura 3.2 tl, it stops pulling what could be the problem?

Q:
I have a 2001 Acura 3.2 tl
(2012-02-16 11:54:03)

A: What is the year of the TL?

ADDED: Thanks for the info, The first thing to do is check the level AND the condition of the transmission fluid, If the fluid is a dark color and has a "tinge smell" to it the transmission has probably failed! Also you will need to scan the ECM (engine control module) to see if any transmission related codes are stored.

NOTE: Trouble codes P0730 and P0780 are for a hydraulic problem with the transmission. Acura has had a lot of automatic transmission failures, so the vehicle has a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty on the automatic transmission. According to Acura TSB # 02-027, this vehicle will receive an automatic transmission, an updated Engine Control Module (ECM), and a fuel pressure regulator.

4 door car under 3000 needs to be stickshift?

Q: im trying to get ideas on a car thats a 4door and that has a manual transmision
(2012-02-16 21:04:21)

A: late 1990's Acura Integra, nice car, cheap, sporty, etc

What's that car in the Lexus commercial?

Q: What's the car it's in a Lexus or something commercial when the guy thinks he's the first one to get the car but isn't then tries to bribe him and gives him a zip line ride and stuff the this other guy comes in wearing a flying squirrel costume. WHATS THE CARS NAME!!!
(2012-02-21 16:49:24)

A: Thats an Acura Commercial. The guy who wants the 1st one is Jerry Seinfeld I believe, and the car is an Acura NSX

are the mitsubishi eclipse 2001 and 2003 gt girls cars or guys cars?

Q: i can get a mitsubishi eclipse 2001 gt for $3000, its not a bad deal. im not gonna get it if its a girl car. let me know. thanks.
(2012-02-21 13:47:46)

A: It depends, if you consider a 'man' car to be any car with a massive V8 that has to displace for what he is "lacking," if you know what I mean, then no, but if you consider it to be a good-looking, reliable, sporty car, then yes.

Don't worry about what anybody else thinks about your car. Get what you like, and if that car has low miles, then that's a good deal and I'd go for it. And believe me, the only people who I've had call MY Eclipse a 'girl's car' are Honda owners who can't get any with their car because they drive a shitmobile, and Mustang owners because they're pissed that they can't keep up.

I've seen girls AND guys driving 2000-2005 Eclipses, hell, call it a girl's car if you want, because all the girls seem to love it, not to mention who's driving it. Try doing THAT in a Honda. ;)

how many pepole can ride in a 2001 honda prelude ?

Q: how many people fit??? / how many seat belts ?
(2012-02-21 23:20:43)

A: Honda Prelude will sit 4 officially, but the back seat is virtually unusable by anyone taller than 5 feet.

Do anyone notice cars are getting smaller these days ?

Q:
(2012-02-22 11:27:28)

A: The exact opposite is true. Look at the Honda Accord. Look at a 10 year old Accord and look at a brand new Accord. The new Accord is much larger than the old model. Do the same with the BMW 3 series. It's twice the size it was 10 years ago. Same thing is true with just about every car on the market.

Car makers are building more small cars these days but the cars aren't getting smaller, they are just buiding new small cars.

So what would it take to....?

Q: convert my car into a natural gas vehicle and set up a "filling station" at my house that draws from the natural gas that heats my home?
(2012-02-21 13:38:25)

A: Making the engine burn natural gas is not as hard as you might expect. The first internal combustion engines burned natural gas and the carburetor (and later fuel injector) was invented to vaporize the liquid gasoline to make it burn like natural gas because it was easier and safer to store a liquid fuel in the car.

But making a fuel tank and filling station will be difficult and even dangerous. The fuel tank needs to be larger than the gasoline tank and must be round to withstand the high pressure needed to hold enough gas to go very far. And you need a high pressure compressor to take the low pressure gas from home and force it into the car's high pressure tank. That will use a significant amount of electricity and there is a risk of fire and explosion if there is any leak and any spark.

Honda makes a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) car and home filling station but at a high price. I suspect a large part of the price is liability insurance and safety engineering costs to mitigate the risks.

Will most "good" car dealerships take back a car that messes up?

Q: Within a week? I bought the car saturday, 2003 cavalier. Well, I am going to be making payments and put $1000 down. First, the a/c would squeal. Then the next day I tried turning it on and it shut off the entire car. Now my car engine idles so low the car vibrates (300-400rpm) and the check engine light flashed on. Again I've only had this car since Saturday. I got it used of course from a suburu dealership. Do you think they would in good faith reverse the sale for me? Or am I screwed since it was an "As is" no warranty sale? :(
Also when I turn on the car it squeals incredibly loud for a second, seems as soon as it turns on until the i turn the key back.
So if they say no, I'm pretty much stuck with paying $2,600 for a useless car? Or face a horrible credit score and then calling my references non stop? Ugh. :(
(2012-02-21 22:59:04)

A: You will find much uninformed comment on this issue, esp the As Is part.

Your state may have good Implied Warrany of Merchantability laws.

In some states, like Wash, this takes precedence over the terms of an As Is contract.

This is tru even if the AI contract says Buyer waives IWM coverage.

But dishonest dealers, and they'r the majority, con ppL into believing As Is leaves them w/o recourse.

So knowledge of IWM is crucial. Call county n state consumer protection depts and state atty gen's office.

Even w/o an IWM, Fraud and Negligence, among other things, will void an As Is contract.

In your case, it's clearly Fraud, ie the dealer knew the car was in bad condition and concealed that from you.

Negligence would be if the dealer dint know something that their duty as a commercial seller required they know, such as the unacceptable condition of the car.

It also is prob unlawful to sell a car that wont pass inspection, and in some states, Check Engine light is an automatic failure.

So you have much recourse vs the seller, including small claims court and certified letters to the dealers Zone and Regional managers abt the dealer's totally unacceptable and unlawful sales practices..

If necc, and it prob will be, come at this dealer from every direction: threaten them w/ small claims, implied warranty action, complaining to zone and regional managers, complaining to the state atty gen, etc etc.

I got Honda to buy back my new/repo Accord that they botched a paint and body work job on. At first they laughed and said no way, but I refused to accept the Accord after eachof their tries to fix the job, and I held their loaner hostage, and threatened them w/ reporting this to the Zone n Regional managers.

After 6 wks of that, they gave up and paid me $xx, xxx.

You never know what they'l give up until you put max pressure on them.

As for Good Faith, mention that and they'l laugh out loud at you.

They'r totally ruthless in their greed.

If not, that Cavalier would be in a salvage yard.

Edit: No way will lemon law appy to a 2003 used vehicle. The longest lemon law I know is Vermont's @ 10 yrs, but I think that only applies to the orginal owner.

What size dirt bike is better for me?

Q: I am going to start beginning to ride a dirt bike. Once I get good I would like to race. I am 18 and 5' 5 3/4". I'm trying to find out what size bike would be better for me. I know both a 125 cc and a 250 cc will hold my weight so that's not the issue. I'm just trying to see what bike I should get to suit me. I talked to a dealer and he suggested a 250 even though I will be a new rider. I'm trying to see what other riders or people that have experienced knowledge on dirt bikes would suggest. I'm trying not to get to small of a bike for me so that I do not get put in the pit bike class or a class with little kids, but I don't want to be in a class with super experienced people either...SO any suggestions?
I want to thank everyone for their advice and personal experiences. I did end up going to a dealer today. I sat on a 125, a 230, and a 250. I have chosen to go with the 230. It is the perfect size for me. the 250 is way to big for me. I'm not sure if it's because i have short legs and a longer torso but it's ok. Once I become more experienced I will work my way up to the 250 if I can. Thanks again. all of you contributed to my overall decision :)
(2012-02-20 23:08:55)

A: It is asking a lot of you to ride a 250 fast as beginner; the power is more suitable for experienced riders.

I would have a look at a Honda crf150r, they are much lighter and a little less power but still have enough there that you won't find the bikes limits for a long time.

They also have excellent resale value. A bike salesman might get more commission for a 250 which is a dearer bike. The crf150r is not a pit bike or a pee wee, just have a look. What you need is a bike that will challenge you to handle it as a beginner; not scare the poo out of you and you never get feeling you are part of the bike.

Who do you think will win this race?

Q: My friend wants to race me. He has a 2004 Honda civic v-tech and it is government chipped. And I have a 1989 camaro rs 305 v8 bone stock but it still has a lot of power. If we do a drag who u think will win?
(2012-02-20 20:43:20)

A: Like I said the last time...

The 04 Honda civic runs the 1/4 mile in 14.7 to 15.3 seconds

The 89 camaro 305 runs the1/4 mile in 15.0's to 15.70's depending on if auto or 5 speed

BTW you also told the one guy to research cars better cause yours has 175 HP or more.. You need to do more research..

Yours does NOT have 175 HP or more.

1989 camaro RS
L03, 305. 9.3:1 compression.
170 HP @4400 RPM
255 ft lbs torque @2400 RPM

Car weighs around 3400 lbs
If auto trans, it came with a 2.73 rear gear ratio, if 5 speed manual it came with a 3.08 rear gear

Rear end is a 7.625" 10 bolt, 26 spline axles

Transmission if auto is 700r4, if manual T5

Question about a Honda civic?

Q: Tomorrow I'm getting my first car. I found it on Craigslist from a mechanic who owned it as his personal car. It's a '99 civic ex coupe with 165,000 miles my question is, is how long do you think this car will run concedering he's a professional mechanic and has fixed everything that has gone wrong in the car? I really don't trust people on Craigslist but this guy seems trustworthy he also said he would replace the oil pan for free. He's selling the car for 2900 with nothing wrong besides the oil pan, needs new tires soon, and eventually would need a paint job if I want it to look nice. Does it sound like a good deal?
I meant $2600 and he said he's printing out a receipt for the oil pan so when it's time for it to be replaced hell do it at no charge at his garage
(2012-02-20 22:08:20)

A: You know Bee I hate to say this but if you asked the average mechanic if they look after their own personal cars most would tell you that's the last thing they see to.Most have their beaters they they just keep driving but some do own personal cars that are used for family etc and may have been well maintained.Really it's like any professional the last work done is on the things they own.People tend to get sick of doing the work at work and really don't want to do repairs etc other then their regular work related work.Note it's probably due for a water pump and timing belt job so be sure to ask about it and any work that was done on it by the owner.

Before I'd recommend you spending any money on used car I'd strongly suggest that you try and find out more about the vehicle you tend on purchasing.Maybe get the vehicles Vin number from the ownership or dash and then find out more about that car. There's car history reports that you can get from the ministry of transportation or from Car Fax etc. This info is vital to have bec it gives you a idea of what accidents occurred, or if the car was ever written off but then purchased and resold, plus it gives you a list of previous owners. You can also go through a dealership and find out what work history reports they have for that Vin number , plus you can find out what factory recall issues exist or if any service bulletins exist or if any program/flash updates exist.

It's hard to just take ppl's word for it and really you should have a shop or mechanic perform a full over all safety inspection and give it a good over check for you but make sure that the mechanic/shop isn't connected with the sale of the vehicle. Also if the oil pan is leaking or damaged etc that is something that should be repaired before you ever agree to purchase the vehicle, plus check out the rocker cover make sure no oil is leaking from it's gasket.Check the quality and colour and level of the oil make sure its not thick or really dark and it's clear of any impurities.

At that asking price I assume you're purchasing it certified and with any needed e-test/smog test bec if it's AS IS I'd really recommend that you walk away from the deal An example of what a 1996 Honda Civic EX Coupe in good condition would be worth 2,700-3,000 dollars in Canada, that's retail price with cert and E-tested.So if you compared that to your 1999 model here the price would be around 4,000-4,500.Note I suspect that you're in the States and that be around the price there about 2,500-3,000 dollars.

I can you that if that car was kept up properly you'd have a pretty good vehicle that is quite reliable and most repairs are that that expensive on those cars, especially if it was indeed kept up.You'd want to really take it for a good 10-15 city drive and another 10-15 hwy drive before purchasing it to see how the car handles and operates, plus find out what it's going to cost for for car insurance before purchasing the car.I really I can't tell you how important it can be to have the vehicle checked out even if the shop or mechanic charges you 60-80 bucks for a full safety check it could end up saving hundreds or thousands of dollars later.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way don't be afraid to ask questions, and to look under the hood at the belts, rad, engine, check the different fluids and have the shop or mechanic show/explain to you any problems, plus don't be afraid to wheel and deal bec you may end up getting 400-800 bucks off the price or a better warranty etc.

What is a good size dirtbike to start out on?

Q: i really want a yamaha and dont want a trail bike cuz i want to do tricks on it later on after getting use to riding it. im 6' 2" and weigh 163. would a yz125 or yz250 be good? and i like ktm dirtbikes too.
(2012-02-21 17:13:58)

A: since you're new to mx id definitely go with a yz 250f . yamaha's and honda are really durable because no doubt you're gunna drop it a few times. especially when you start jumping. a 125 is basically a 250 four stroke. but a 250 2 stroke is a 450 four stroke. most free style riders use 250 2 strokes and four strokes. so best answer a yz250f. i started out as a 14 year old on a 250 2 stroke and it was a little to much for me. the power band on it is fucking insane. good luck

A: Both cars have real great suspension. But the Acura is more comfortable. Acura is made by Honda so they are both made with same technology

Is $7000 too low for a 2006 Honda Civic with less than 90000k miles?

Q:
(2012-02-20 10:57:49)

A: Maybe a little. It also matters what condition its in. Like scratches, paint chips, etc. I think between 7,000$-8,000$ would be a good price range. I have a 2008 with 70k and my price is about 9500$. Got my price from a friend who buys and sells honda's.

I barely got a 2012 Toyota Prius 3rd Gen?

Q: Ok this going to sound dumb but I'm a sports car person I own a 2013 ford mustang gt500 super snake I was wondering if I can fix up a 2012 Toyota Prius 3rd Gen? If I can where?
(2012-02-21 12:33:52)

A: i dont think you can. its a prius so aftermarket companies dont take any interest in them. it also has an atkinson cycle engine so they are weird to work on. the only hybrid that ive heard that can be tuned is the honda crz. bisimoto ezerioha made one with 500 horses without an engine swap and still keeping the hybrid system

(2012-02-19 13:59:28)

A: Get a fullrace turbo kit. With this kit, you will be making between 250whp-350whp. http://turbokits.com/Acura/Integra/Turbo_Kits/Full_Race_Pro_Street_Turbo_Kit/50/

But remember to get bigger injectors and a hondata chip.

Why do women love wealthy guys?

Q: I am not rich, but i have some rich relatives. Now i begged my step-uncle to let me have his Lamborghini for a weekend. He agreed to it, but he told me no scratches or i will have to pay; i had no idea if he was serious or not. So i drove near the state college in town, and i got tons of reaction. A lot of women took pics of me in the car. It was funny to see these same women who ignore me giving me all this attention, i didn't expect to get flashed by some of these women. But it was fun.

When i went into the gas station, i had about two beautiful women telling me how nice my car is. I got there number, and i had sex with both of them later. My question is why do women love guys who are wealthy. I am not wealthy, but i got to experience the things that rich men go through. Women will only want you if you have money. The next day i got ignored by women, when i drove a nissan maxima. So it seems like women only like rich guys.
123 well i never gotten much attention from women in my nissan maxima and i have the 2011 version too. It doesn't compare to the lambo.
(2012-02-20 11:44:30)

A: Sluts will have sex with a guy with a Lambo. You can still get a good, nice woman with a Nissan Maxima. To answer your question, women like security and a standard of living. What woman wants to be with someone who will give her kids and leave them homeless and hungry. So work hard and make some money, you don't have to be really rich though, just nice and secure.

Definitely does not compare to a Lambo, women won't ask for photos with a Nissan. But it's still a good car that works, and shows you have some money. When I asked my wife on a date, I was driving a Honda Accord...nothing really expensive either.

2004 Acura TL reliablity?

Q: I'm planning to trade in my 2007 Sentra 2.0S with 94k miles for a 2004 Acura TL. My Sentra keeps on breaking down and I don't want to spend more money to fix it. I found a 2004 TL without nav with 49k miles (Yes it's forty nine thousand) for $14,800. Being an eight year old vehicle, I don't know if this is worth it. All of newer cars that I like and found have more miles on them and not as nice as this one. I've seen the TL and it looks really new with shiny paint. The car has perfect 1-owner carfax

Will it be a good choice to trade my Sentra in? And does anyone know how much will the insurance cost me? I just turned 21, have perfect driving record and living in Nebraska.

Thanks a bunch!
(2012-02-14 18:28:16)

A: Above average reliability and at the tail-end of the plagued period of bad Acura transmissions.
I would still get in inspected and have them pay close attention to the transmission and transmission fluid.

How much effect will this cause on my car?

Q: I have an 97 Civic EX and currently has 14x5 rim on it. Im going to upgrade them to 17x7 with a smaller tire but the new rim will have +1'' towards the strut housing and -1'' to outside edge with the offset at 40 mm. I was just wondering how this will effect my handling/turning but mainly the inside of the wheel well.
(2012-02-19 16:51:26)

A: Yeah, possible. if going with 17x7 rims you'd be looking at a 205/40-17 tire for perfect fit. Yeah, you want to go wider for the "look"? Don't. it will totally screw with your handling and control. 205/40-17 is a size that Honda intended for your Civic, stick with it.

Good car for 17year old?

Q: Ok so im a 17 year old boy, of course i want a more sporty car.. Right now i have been will-ed from my grandma a 2005 honda civic hybrid. Its nice to drive and is great on gas but i really do not want to beat on it and ruin it. I want to buy a more sporty car any suggestions? Should i sell my car now? It has a kbb of 8,000$
(2012-02-19 21:50:43)

A: get a 6th gen civ... they're AMAZING on gas. tough as fuck. i have one and have had it for 5 years. it has 400,000 kms on it and it's still runnin strong! it's peppy, sporty, tough and a honda. ya can't beat that!

PS - he is respecting his gma by not wanting to RUIN and BEAT the car she is willing him .

Im going to be 16 next month.......?

Q: I will only drive a honda civic of any type or year or an acura integra or rsx etc, now i live in ohio and my mom just called to see how much it would be to insure me under a civic and with just liability its around $550 a month and she said thats way to much wich it really is thats rediculous! But anyway i wanted to know what u think it cost to drive an acura integra or an acura rsx not an rsx type s that the sport version just an rsx... By the way im 16 have no driving record have a's and b's, could u just give me an estimate please!!!!! Please dont answer with things like u need to ask the insurance company and it varys and all this just let me know what u think both of which those cars are considered a 2 door coupe not sports car. Thanks in advance!!!
(2012-02-20 11:56:31)

A: Coupes and Bucket seats in an insurance company's eyes is a sport car. Honda civics really should not be that expensive for insurance but it depends on the state and the minimum liability available for said state. If you are a young man that will also make your insurance sky rocket. Unfair, yes but boys are far more likely to be in an accident and are speeding-ticket prone. If your family has an relations to the military, try USAA. They are the best and offer good student discounts along with a whole other slew of benefits.

Would car insurance be cheaper on a Lexus or a Cadillac?

Q: And why?
(2012-02-17 16:35:58)

A: Depends on vehicle, if its an Escalate then no, because they are the easiest vehicles to break into. Insurance will charge you heavy. Majority of Lexus are cheaper to insure because they lack performance, and good in fuel economy; along with Acura. If you get the Escalate Hybrid then insurance will be less, this goes the same for CTS & SRX.

He didn't ask anyting about Audi Two Lane.

Is 125k way too much for a 2008 Mercedes C300?

Q: I'm thinking of getting the C300 for my first car, but 125k for a 4 year old car seems a bit extreme. The price is $22,995 which I find reasonable for the C300, but then again...the 125k throws me off. I Googled the average KMs/year for a car and found that 20k is pretty average so that means the car is about 45k above average. Would it be a horrible choice to buy this car?
As I mentioned above, this would be my first time getting a car so I'm not sure how things work and what's considered good or bad.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!
Thanks to all for the answers! I really appreciate it.
(2012-02-19 21:56:12)

A: Firstly I must emphasize that Mercedes-Benz builds excellent cars, second to none in quality, and performance. Mercedes-Benz's aren't particularly known for longevity, i.e. 200k+ miles, like Honda's. But there are a few Benz's out there that have made it that high. As long as you perform preventative maintenance, such as oil changes, breaks, tune ups, battery, getting fluids replaced and flushed, your car will equally take care of you just as much. For a Mercedes-Benz this isn't cheap, and to get anything replaced literally costs an arm and a leg, and were not just talking a couple hundred dollars. If your just buying this car for the looks, and the stigma attached to being a Mercedes Benz owner, your buying it for the wrong reason. These cars are expensive, and unless you have a salary to match the cost of owning and maintaining this car, I strongly advise you do not buy this car. Plus to answer your other question, yes $23,000 is to expensive for this car. You can find cheaper, and better. Just keep looking. :-] Good luck to you!!!

Who ultimately rules Capitalist "Democracies": the Citizens that Work and Vote OR the Banks that Speculate?

Q:
(2012-02-19 10:46:56)

A: Are these really the two absolute choices? There's no nuance involved? There's no other sources of give and take on the power struggle? It is in your mind simply a clean clear choice between ...

A) The citizens
B) The Banks

Seriously?!?!?!?!

In what world are those our two choices?!

1. The people have the following power:

a) Live within their means, don't borrow, don't do business with banks, don't feed them any of their money; e.g., Credit Unions are NOT banks! No one makes you borrow a penny!
b) We can choose what stores to frequent and which ones to boycott.
i. We can set up our own barter system
ii. We can grow our own foods
iii. We can pit business against business to get better deals
iv. We can educate ourselves about retail and wholesale price differences, negotiate, etc.
c) We can hold off on our purchases (delayed gratification)
d) We can downgrade our needs; e.g., buy a 1993 Honda Civic instead of a 2012 Lexus SUV

2. Bank speculation is causing you great problems? I agree with you that MARKET speculation is a problem, but I don't believe that BANKS speculate on commodity prices! For example, here's a website that is trying to stop oil speculation:

http://www.stopoilspeculationnow.com/home.aspx

There is not one word about banks! They refer to it as ... "Wallstreet." Again, Wallstreet is a vague catchall term. I know there are Commodity houses in NYC and Chicago. My point being that speculations and banks don't obviously go hand-in-hand.

3. I would argue that if you live a certain lifestyle then banks have virtually NO CONTROL in your life, even while corporations at large still might. Typically in order for banks to really have a say in our lives, we must voluntarily invite them in; e.g., going to Bank of America and asking for a loan, a credit card, a bank account, etc.

So, in short, I would submit that your question presents if not false either / or options, certainly naive and insufficient ones. If you want to know where I feel the most oppression (and therefore the loss of control in my life), it's as follows:

1. Government. It was long ago said, "That government is best which governs least." If that's true then our government was best in the earliest days of America and has been getting worse and worse over the past 200 years, as it continues to govern more and more.

Don't forget, legislation almost never empowers us! It's quite the opposite! Legislation dictates actions that usurp our freedoms of choice!

2. Yes, corporations enter into collusion, price fix, manipulate us, have these evil attitudes that if you want it then you're going to pay, etc. Yes, of course! And I hate that! But ...

3. I find politicians to be just as greedy, just as power hungry! Everytime people (like the Occupy crowd) look to politicians to "fix" the problems with the evil corporations, wallstreet, banks, etc., I am somewhere between amused and confused. To me, that's a little like asking Al Capone to fix the mob problems in Chicago in the 1930's.

Are Acura nice cars for a 17 year old? Is it considered luxury?

Q: Are Acura's considered luxury and would girls like it?
(2012-02-19 14:51:19)

A: Yes, Acura are luxury cars. Honda Owns Acura. Acura is the expensive brand of Honda. Girls would like it, all you got to do is make the car look nice.

Kids like your age would like . Honda Civics, Or Acura Integra and make them into tuners.

But if you want I would recommend buying a 1999-2003 Acura Tl to start out with those are nice cars.

Is $120,000 a decent income for a family of four? please answer?

Q:
(2012-02-19 09:18:02)

A: It completely depends on where you live. In Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, etc., it would likely be enough for a moderate lifestyle. In other parts of the country, in less metro areas, it would be substantially enough.
Of course it also depends on your debt to income ratio and your standard of lifestyle (i.e. Honda or Mercedes, cooking v. Dining out,etc.). There are so many variables.

2004 Honda Accord with 149K miles?

Q: Only cost $6,750; is this a good deal?
It's an EX.
(2012-02-19 12:31:08)

A: Is it a DX, EX or LX model? That can change the value quite a bit. Let's say it is an EX. It would be valued at approx $5600 from a private seller or $6600 from a dealer.

Check it out yourself at edmunds.com or nada.com, options and packages can change the value several hundreds of dollars one way or the other.
